Hi, my name is Niall Farrell. I am an energy and environmental economist at Queen's University Belfast and I run this podcast "At the Margin".

I carry out research in energy and environmental economics. My research has covered topics such as: efficient risk management in renewable energy investment incentives; how electricity markets should be designed in a high renewables world; and how climate change impacts and associated policy measures will affect those less well-off.

I have previously worked at the University of Oxford, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin. I obtained my Ph.D from the National University of Ireland, Galway, during which time I spent a year at UC Berkeley.

I'm always interesting in talking about research or interesting topics so feel free to get in touch at n.farrell [at] qub [dot] ac [dot] uk.

I've recently set up a Patreon page. While I was able to get some funding during the early days, the bills have been growing. The Patreon page will hopefully help keep costs at a sustainable level. If you'd like to chip in, this is a way to contribute as much or as little as you wish. There is no obligation. Any help is really appreciated and your contribution may also bring the warm glow of contributing to this public good :).

As a thank you, I will introduce a supplementary subscriber-only series in the coming weeks, check out the Patreon page for more details. I see the main podcast feed as a public good and it will always be free.

Thanks for all the support so far and hopefully we can keep the show on the road for many more episodes to come.
